MOUNT MORA 1851

BOOK SIGNING PARTY!

Join forward-thinking local photographer Megan Wyeth and local writers Ben Vineyard, Marshall White, Suzanne Lehr, Jim Lehr, Conger Beasley, and Hans Bremer on SATURDAY, MARCH 24th at the BENTON CLUB, 402 North 7th, from 5:30pm-7:30pm to celebrate the release of and to purchase a copy of their book:  Mount Mora - 1851.   The book is $30 and 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Mount Mora's endowment.  The event is FREE and open to the public!

The idea came about between the listing of the cemetery on the National Register of Historic Places in July 2006 and the vandalism of the cemetery in September 2006.  Megan Wyeth, who has been photographing Mount Mora, came up with the idea to publish her photographs in a book and donate all the proceeds to the cemetery.  She took this great task head-on by raising all the publication funds herself – no easy feat!  Megan teamed up with six local writers, Ben Vineyard, Marshall White, Suzanne Lehr, Jim Lehr, Conger Beasley, Jr., and Hans P. Bremer, and is pairing her photographs with their written words.  The photographs will be a mix of black & white and color and the written submissions range from the factual history of the cemetery to creative writing capturing the cemetery’s essence.  These writers have produced some of the most in-depth historical accounts of our fair city to date.  The book will be available for purchase at area locations, including Stillwaters, as well as through the News-Press.  Their collective take on the cemetery is much anticipated!

Please support this important effort by purchasing a copy of this book.  If you cannot attend, but would like to purchase a book you can send a check payable to Mount Mora Cemetery Assocation Book Project and indicate the number of copies.  Each book is $30 and include $5.00 for shipping, regardless of the number of books ordered.  In addition, if you would like to make a donation to Mount Mora, you may send a check payable to Mount Mora Endowment.  Mail checks to:  Mount Mora Book or Mount Mora Endowment c/o Nanette Corso, 1125 Krug Park Place, Saint Joseph, MO 64505.
